When it comes to brunch, I find myself in one of two moods: wanting a refined, elegant experience, like perfectly poached eggs lying atop a piece of rustic baguette with a crisp side salad or some other delicious (though often pretentious) meal to be eaten with a linen napkin in the lap while slowly sipping my french roast; OR an eggy, cheesy bomb of a dish, with more toast than one could ever eat in one sitting and coffee that is refilled every time you take a drink, replete with cheap silverware and napkins and mismatched furniture.
Dottie’s was the perfect compromise. The food was delicious and surprisingly sophisticated (I had a scramble with goat cheese and fennel sausage) and our server as attentive as I needed him to be, but it was still a casual, fun time.
Yes, you’ll likely have to wait to get seated (though, seriously people, would you want to eat at a place at which you’re seated right away? bad sign. eat a piece of toast before you go and chill out). Plan your day accordingly and go with good conversationalists and you won’t even notice the wait.
